November 2023

The first Battersea Anthology is sponsored by Wandsworth Council to discover under-represented writers associated with the Battersea and Nine Elms area. The theme of the year is grow and flourish, with a specific focus on connection and community. The written work does not strictly have to be set in Battersea and Nine Elms. However, we particularly welcome writers to reflect on their experience in the local area in the hope that the anthology will document the changing landscape of the neighbourhood.

The submissions window is open from 26 July 2023 to 10 September 2023 (newly extended deadline).

Writers chosen to be included in the anthology will receive fair compensation. Anyone associated with the Battersea and Nine Elms area, including current and former residents, people who used to work and study in the area, or other ways, is eligible to submit an entry if they are resident in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, and if they consider themselves to be under-represented (please refer to the terms and conditions below for further details). We welcome submissions from anyone who has previously been published or not.

A launch party is scheduled to take place in the Battersea and Nine Elms area in mid-November 2023 (details to follow). All eleven writers will be invited to read an excerpt of their work in the launch party. Everyone is welcome to come to the launch party.
